So yeah, lots of things going on. When I saw this hair, I liked it, but it had a plethora of problems that I had no idea how to fix. I thought that it wasn't voluminous enough, and I thought that it sat too high on the head, and I would have preferred that it was compatible with sliders and such, and of course, I thought that the textures were gross, and I HATED that idiotic little hat.
When I finally saw the hair in-game, I noticed this horrible bald spot behind the right ear, and I must say that it was just some REALLY sloppy work on Butterfly's part.
My version has its own issues too. Because it is my first conversion that I've ever posted ever, it has a few TINY transparency issues that I actually have no idea how to fix. They can be seen in the brown image, I think, but there aren't many. Also, the hairstyle is a bit wider, and it doesn't tuck behind the ears like the original, because as hard as I tried, I couldn't get it to do that, because Butterfly's Sims 2 mesh doesn't fit the Sims 3 head very well. Also, as you can see in the last image, the hair tends to crunch when a sim's head turns all the way to the right, but the animations are quite good, if you're willing to actually look at them in game. My previous fix had only 20 transitions between different bones, and this one has 33, so it should be MUCH MUCH better.
My version is better because it is fat morph and breast slider compatible, and it has about 3,000 polygons less than the original, and in my opinion, it looks better, but that's just me and your opinion is likely different.
By the time you read this, my castle links will probably have been updated back to mediafire, sorry about the trouble, everyone.
The name of this hairstyle is based on Drake's song, Marvin's Room. Don't let the fact that he's a popular artist fool you, he is an incredible artist, and the song is hauntingly beautiful.

This hairstyle is 10,160 polygons in LOD0, and is 7,518 polygons in LOD1. Most people should be able to run my version, but the original is 13,100 polys in LOD0, and 11,196 polys in LOD1, so my version may be easier to run for most.
*This hairstyle is available for teen-elder females and is non-default.*
DISCLAIMER: I did not mesh the original Sims 2 version, but I converted this one from it, and this version, and the textures are mine.
If you like my work, I have a facebook page that you can stalk, you can also comment below or subscribe to my blog.
Tell me, have you heard that lately?
Moosie
P.S. (In Orange): Please let me know if you have any issues, ESPECIALLY because this is my first conversion, and I will fix them as soon as I can.
Please go ahead and use my work for whatever you like, but please don't reupload my work unless you're bundling it with a sim upload, and in that case, I hope that you'd give me credit. Please ask before retexturing my conversion, and don't steal my textures.
Great job, Moose!
ReplyDeleteHoly shit.. This is amazing.. 0__0 This is the best fix I have seen in the history of forever. ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Metal, fantastic job! Kisses
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much!
ReplyDeleteWait.. So you did an entire mesh conversion? 0__0
DeleteYes I did, it was the only way to get the exact results that I wanted. I've been working on teaching myself how to convert hair for the past 6 months, I finally figured it out with this mesh!
DeleteGah! I've been experimenting.. I can actually do it, but TSR Crapshop hates me, so nothing f*cking works! My problem is bone assignments, and UV maps. They make me want to randomly open fire.. :P lol
DeleteThank you SO MUCH for doing this one. I've wanted it since it was released but couldn't stand that stupid little hat. Your version is so much better. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Brilliantly gorgeous, beautiful work. Thank you so much!!!!!
